NCAA Power Rankings (Aug 25 - Aug 29)

Ian Mazo (MIT) – Mazo hammered in a 35-point week highlighted by 50% shooting from beyond the arc. That is something unheard of from Mazo since he went 17 points and 4/6 at the three-point area against the Blazers back in 2006 (7/14/06). Why, Horacio Lim was still the head coach back then. Other than that, he is showing some stuff in other departments with 4 rebs and 2 blks against the Dolphins (8/25) and 6 rebs and 4 asts against the Knights (8/29).
(8) Ogie Menor (SBC) – What Mazo did in two games, Menor did in one. 35 pts, 6/11 3pts, 12/19 fgs, 5/6 fts, 3 asts, 4 stls in 33 mins against the Blazers (8/27). I could have put him at first for this statistical feat. But Mazo has been consistent and I want to reward him for that.
Allan Mangahas (MIT) – With statlines like these (16 pts, 2/6 3pts, 3/5 2pts, 4 rebs vs PCU, 8/25; 18 pts, 8/15 fgs, 3 rebs, 3 asts vs CSJL, 8/29) last week, Allan “The Snake” Mangahas is contending for ROY honours. Chuck Dalanon (CSB) is a close second. I would want the day to come when Mangahas and James “The Marine” Sena (JRU) be tag team partners, uh... I mean teammates. That was like the DDT and FU in one sentence.
(1) Sam Ekwe (SBC) – Ekwe has been amazing (15 pts, 6/6 fgs, 12 rebs vs CSB, 8/27), it would be a surprise if he does not win MVP this season. Get it? Manny Pangilinan,as in MVP. Oh I am getting cornier by the minute.
Marlon Gomez (PCU) – In case the Dolphins take their indefinite leave of absence seriously, Gomez (14 pts, 10 rebs, vs MIT, 8/25) is on the radars of some coaches.
Kelvin dela Peña (MIT) – Mr. NCAA got drafted last Sunday to highlight what has been a relatively good week (12 pts, 6 rebs, 6 asts vs PCU, 8/25; 5 pts, 11 rebs, 7 asts, 4 stls vs CSJL, 8/29) for dela Peña.
Neil Pascual (MIT) – Neil has been the MVP among the three Pascuals active this season. He averaged 10.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.0 spg last week.
Stephen Siruma (PCU) – Who needs Beau Belga (apparently, Purefoods does) when Gomez and Siruma have what you might call breakout games (18 pts, 3/6 3pts, 7 rebs, 4 asts vs MIT, 8/25)?
Franz Dysam (UPHSD) – The Perpetual goat is a hero in a no-bearing game for the Altas (18 pts, 8 rebs, 3 asts, 7 tos vs CSJL, 8/25).
(5) Jason Ballesteros (SSCR) – Talk about a career season, this is what Ballesteros is having at this moment (16 rebs, 3 blks, 5 tos vs JRU, 8/27; 6 pts, 12 rebs, 2 blks vs CSB, 8/29). Shoutout to Froilan Saquillo for being the lone Stag who scored in double digits last week (11 pts, 4 rebs 2 blks vs CSB, 8/29).
