UAAP Rookie Rankings Part 2
Sun, Aug 24, 2008 by Purple and Gold
Just because I feel like posting now, here is the second installment of the UAAP Season 71 Rookie Rankings:
Admitted:
1. Ryan Buenafe - ADMU (Prev: 1) The 1.5 million guy keeps making money EH I MEAN being all money for the Blue Eagles. He provided the game-defining "1.5 million" shot against UE. Contributed well in the royal drubbing of UP at the Araneta. Wait, what's with 1.5 million ba?
2. LA Revilla - DLSU (Prev: 4) This small guy is slowly but surely proving to be La Salle point guard of the future. Continues to be as effective with good shots and good decision making. He's also consistent with hitting his three pointers. He was just not used that much by Coach Franz in the loss vs FEU.
3. Maui Villanueva - DLSU (Prev: 3) Maui continues his silent work as the back-up power forward of La Salle. He steadily improves every game and he has the fire to back it up. Still needs to work more with his inside/post moves. Maybe this is really the reason why MVP wanted Maui in the first place.
4. Paul Zamar - UE (Prev: N/A) Paul Zamar was a revelation for the UE Red Warriors against the Ateneo Blue Eagles. This Tayshaun Prince prototype with shorter wingspan scored 10+ points and made a bunch of 3-pointers. Sadly, his explosion went to naught as his team choked two times vs Ateneo. Just ask him how many times they muffed chances to close out that game.
5. Clark Bautista - UST (Prev: 7) Clark Bautista's starting to find his range now -- something that made him one of the coveted recruits of the 2008 rookie class. With the return of Japs Cuan, he can effectively slide back to the 2 slot and fight against the other Tigers in a contest for most threes jacked up in a game.
6. Nico Salva - ADMU (Prev: 5) Nico Salva goes down in the rankings because Norman Black has sparingly used him or used him less in the past games of Ateneo after the first ranking. He gives off good contributions (off/def) as part of the Ateneo second stringers. He keeps number 6 for this installment.
7. Mike Galinato - ADU (Prev: 2) What the fuck happened to this newcomer? After the impressive 20-10 performance in their first game, he's been nothing short of a dud. Inconsistent play has hounded this Adamson Center. He's surely taking his team down with his shitty play as of late.
8. Jeric Fortuna - UST (Prev: 8) Jeric has been steadily improving, yes. But that does not mean that we have no right to crucify him again. His poor performance as the team's back-up point guard vs FEU cost them a loss. Well talk about fortune turned jinx. The number one list in his homework is his decision making under pressure.
9. Hyram Bagatsing - DLSU (Prev: 9) Hyram delivered a good performance against NU, helping the Archers deliver the killer blows in a third-quarter blitzkrieg of the Archers vs the Bulldogs. Great offensive skills for him; he's shown that he can nail threes to boost the La Salle offensive arsenal.
10. Spider Webb - DLSU (Prev: 6) Our friendly neighborhood Spider has been struggling as of late, committing silly mistakes and taking too much jumpers. He needs to attack the rim more -- or give it to someone who can shoot like LA, James or Jvee. He's very inconsistent; he's just lucky enough to be in a team like La Salle.
On the Waiting List:
11. Carlos Fenequito (UST)
12. Jun Tanuan (FEU)
13. Mark Mendoza (DLSU)
14. JM Noble (UE)
15. Vincent Burke (ADMU)
